The original Colorsound Overdriver was release in 1971 and ran on 9V to replace the Power Boost that ran on 18 volts. This was to tame the Power Booster as before the master volume mod the pedal was TOO LOUD at 18V so the 9V version was released.  It was very popular and was used by such guitar superstars as David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, Jeff Beck, and T-rex Marc Bolan. The pedal was known for it's powerful overdrive but also it's incredible boost factor. If used directly after the guitar it could be used in a host of ways to pushing fuzz pedals, boosting signal or just balls out rocking.

Tru-Fi has now produced a hand-made recreation of the famous Colorsound 9 Volt Overdriver used by the likes of Jeff Beck and David Gilmour among the few. They run on a 9V battery or a negative tip power supply. We have produced the 9V Colordriver Overdriver to a true Power Boost replica down to the correct BC109 Transistors. You want killer Beck type overdrive crank the gain and push the master volume a ting over unity and watch your guitar tone explode. You want to push your amp for a fuller tone but still pretty clean, back the gain way off, and push the master all the way BOOM. You want to push a Big Muff for a David Gilmour transparent solo tone, push the master volume up in the Muff.

These are just killer reproductions, in a enclosure that is half the size (Ting bigger than a Boss Pedal) but while unique it still hints of the original. Inside the unit you will find correct "real" BC109 transistors that just gives it the genuine sound. The beauty of these pedals is the volume pot on the side so you can really push your amp, this gives it the shine of a driven amp mixed with the thick fuzz overdrive tone you want.

These pedals are tone machines, always try to use an amp that has some mild grit, the addition of fuzz at that point is the secret to tone.

Of course, the Tru-Fi Colordriver Fuzz/Boost is true bypass, sports LED, and manual !

Made in the USA!

    Colordriver - review

This thing is tone machine! If you’re searching for the one box that does it all fuZZ, Od, and boost this thing is it! best dynamics from the volume pot I ever heard. it works with whatever you throw at it (my strat tele and es 330 just loves it), it does need an amp that’s “in the zone” to sound its best like most fuzz boxes but it sounds good through a clean amp as well. All in all one of the best dirt boxes I’ve ever had the pleasure to try + Teddy is an absolute king!

    Colordriver

Extremely impressed! The initial presentation with the wood box was awesome! Sound wise this pedal is fantastic. It can cover anything from a boost to fuzz and doesn’t lose its punchiness. The side mounted volume control also makes it super versatile. Love it!

    9v Colordriver

Hands down the best pedal I have ever played. It's everything from a clean boost to nasty fuzz and everything in between. The orange color is so vibrant and high quality. Just amazing

    Review

Outstanding pedal, can't say enough about it, total tone-chaser's dream! It has all of the balls and low end you want as well as all of the mid/high cut though for lead/honking rhythm tone. Easily worthy of being someone's go-to OD and/or fuzz on their board.

    The Colordriver (9v version)

I am not sure how to properly review something that met and exceeded my expectations, other than to say just that, I suppose. Very rich tonal character, but 1000% rip-your-face-off-loud. I am very satisfied with this purchase. Works great with my rig. I use it as a front of the line boost and if I thought my little rig sounded good before the colordriver, the addition of the colordriver took the rig's sound to completely another level. It can get growly and mean if that is what you are after, or it is roasted caramel smooth when cleaned up. These pedals are built like tanks and likely able to withstand a direct bomb-blast or the falling impact of drunken band mates. The pedal is as much a work of art as it is a piece of functional gear and are well worth the price of admission! Get one. You want this product, really, you need it. You know you want this product, and you know you need it, too. If not, get it anyways, you will discover that you just didn't know you wanted and needed this pedal all along. They come in a variety of colors to choose from, if you like, too - I got mine in Anti-Freeze Green. It is really very beautiful; the finish is absolutely ace. As stated above - as much a piece of art as it is a piece of gear. Stop reading my review now and go on; buy one of these colordrivers, already. Go on. Go. Hit the "Buy" button. Maybe your best feel good purchase of the week - small business, American made; the hinged pine box it comes in is no-fucking around and a work of art unto itself, the pedal is simply stated hot as Hell; amazing product. Go. Hit. The. Buy. Button.

    This is the one

This is the sound I've been looking for. It's incredibly unique and versatile and this thing can shake whatever place you're playing in. Love the vintage look of it. It's got a permanent place on my pedalboard.

    Mind Bogglingly Amazing

Seriously one of the best if not THE BEST overdrive/fuzzI have ever had the pleasure to grace my ears. Nothing short of an amazing experience playing this. It will change the way you approach and engage with your instrument. So responsive and impressive, it’s the key to a new world of expression on the guitar for me!

ONE of th ebest pedals i have ever played

Been looking for an original Macaris Colorsound pedal for years. But they dont make them often enough and when they do they are INSANE price wise. Well i bought a Colorfinder and it sounds JUST like a colorsound! My buddy has an original colorsound and the colorfinder sounds just like it even BETTER! Classic Floyd sound espically when paired with a phaser or a flange!

    Absolutley incredible

I couldn’t be happier with the Colordriver. It does everything from warm amp breakup to some of the gnarliest fuzz. There’s a ton of power under the hood. I tried to dime the pedal just see what it could do and I couldn’t take the master volume past half way. It’s a solid design and so versatile. I’ve got it on a stomp box setting on my G2 so I can bring it in and out of my presets. I can’t believe the tone it brings. Highly recommended!!
