Red October is a take off of the super rare EH Red Army Muffs that came out in the late 80s and is Hailed as the BEST (per Big Muff History Page) of the Russian Muffs. 

I went as far as importing KT3102E transistors from Russia look at Box in 2nd Picture !! That is what was used in the Red Army and Civil War and give it the correct and unique tone, I also used the 430 Pf caps as was in the early Red Army Pedals. First edition Red Army's have very dark sound, thunderous lows, and a smooth and clear tone. Second editions have a slightly grittier tone, noticeably less smooth. The bass and treble of the tone varies slightly from unit to unit this is was my goal. I spent a lot of time on this and there is no need to pay crazy collector prices any longer, and also much better quality than the re-issues.

    Thick and creamy

    I love this pedal so much I have two of them. I've played, loved and owned lots of Muff variants over the years, but this is the one I have really bonded with. Like a good Russian Muff should, it's got plenty of thick lows and low mids without getting wooly(unless you dial in the wool with the tone control). No matter which guitar I plug in I find that keeping the Sustain dimed and adjusting the tone to taste is the way to go. Even with the fuzz flat out it's surprisingly quiet.

    Just wanted to say how pleased I am with my Red October pedal. Im a huge muff fan, and have lots of them of pretty much all the different variants. The red October immediately became one of my favourites. It sounds dope. It's thick, bold, and open sounding. Maintains a good degree of low end and provides just enough of those slightly crunchy mid frequencies that are really apparent in the Russian variant, but not too much that it loses its own distinct tonal character. Over all I'm really impressed, both with the quality of the pedal and the superb packaging it came in. It totally was worth the wait. Also, I should add that I adore the art on the pedal. Having comrade Lenin's likeness and the Soviet/communist insignia on the front makes it instantly appeal to me. Workers of the world unite!...around this superb muff pedal. This pedal isn't going to help you smash the capitalist state, or keep the reactionary white guards at bay, nor is it going to help defend the revolution, but it sure looks and sounds rad as fuck.

    Red October Fuzz

    I wanted to let you know that received my Red October fuzz the other day. I am delighted to report how impressed I am with how good it sounds. Great smooth fuzz sound with beautiful sustain. But not harsh, and incredibly quiet for a fuzz. I love the sound of my black Russian BM, but it was very noisy with scratch pots, which is partly why I sold it. This one really nails that Russian BM sound! The build quality is very solid. Suffice it to say I love it! You’ve hit a home run with this one. And thank you for getting it to me so quickly.
